Archive for March, 2009

This was a crazy day.  Lots of shooting, several different locations, several different outfit changes, but WOW, what I captured is awesome!  Carolina was a great sport.  I would give her suggestions for poses and she would know exactly what I was talking about and was usually able to improve on them.   She was aware of the camera, but didn’t over pose or use dramatic expressions.  Sometimes with seniors I either have to tone them down (too much of America’s Next Top Model, maybe) or bring them out of their shell.  She did it all right!  Thanks Carolina!

Office Hours

March 30, 2009

So after I posted about having limited office hours last week, I got a few questions asking “what are your normal office hours?” So here they are:

There are several exceptions to these hours; shooting a session or being with a client are just two.  Leave a voicemail message or email me at jennifer@authentic-images.com and I will return your message as soon as I return!

Many have asked just where have I been since Wednesday that has taken so much time.  Well, I was shooting the Spring 2009 School portraits for Faith Lutheran School here in Huntsville!  I was asked back by Director and Principal Kristie Pacher after the Fall 2008 portraits were such a success.  Needless to say I jumped at the invitation.  I had a blast with these kids.  Yes, it’s kind of a hectic almost frantic pace, but it’s never boring!  Faith Lutheran School is a Nationally accredited school offering enrollment for ages 6 weeks to 2nd grade and I think the total headcount of kids was 155, so yeah, I’m exhausted. I strived to interact with each child, taking my time and getting the “real” smiles and expressions.  Some took a little longer than others, but it was well worth it.  These are just a sample of what I was able to capture in my time out at FLS.  I will post more as I get permission from parents.

For more information on Faith Lutheran School, please visit Faith Lutheran School Website

If you are a parent at FLS and are interested in seeing your child’s image as a sneak peek here, please contact me through the comments section of this post.  I will do my best, but obviously can only publish so many images.

Limited Office Hours

March 25, 2009

I will be out of the office for most of the day today, tomorrow and Friday.  If you need to reach me, the best way to contact me is via email.  I will be returning all contacts late in the evenings, past acceptable phone hours, so email will be the fastest way for me to return communications.

Little Jenna came back to see me this weekend.  Our very first session was when Jenna was 10 days old, I saw her again at 6 months and now I get to play again for her 1 year birthday!  We tried to shoot earlier in the month, but the day was plagued with difficulties.  After several days of beautiful warm weather, we woke up that morning to temperatures in the 40’s, overcast skies and wind gusts around 25 mph.  It also turns out that Miss Jenna was cutting a tooth and overall just not in the mood for photographs, so we decided it just wasn’t meant to be that day.  Well, this time around the weather was GORGEOUS (temp in the low 80’s and SUNNY) and the tooth was in and she was ready to play!  We wore each other out.  I got an email from Mom telling me that Jenna crashed about 20 seconds after being put into her carseat for the ride home.  I don’t blame her, I was exhausted too, but it was well worth it.  The shots we captured speak for themselves.

7 days old and what a trooper!  She slept for much of the session, but had a few words to say about some of the poses I put her in, but gave in pretty quickly.  She loved to be cuddled and I did my fair share of it, in fact most of the time I was there I spent cuddling or feeding her.  Newborn sessions are where I get my baby fix.  I always leave saying I want another one, until I get home to my 2 monsters ( I say that with LOVE) and I quickly realize what a great job I have.  I can cuddle and play with newborns during my sessions and then hand them back to their parents to deal with 3 am feedings and dirty diapers!

It never fails…

March 19, 2009

Whenever I blog a session, I make a quick run through, pick out a few of my favorites, edit and blog them.  Well, it never fails, after I proof the entire session, I realize that there are several others that have become favorites too!  So, here are more of Britton and Clayton.  I have really embraced color in my portraits lately, but there is something about this session, I just LOVE the black and whites!

Quite the workout!

March 18, 2009

These two gave me quite the run for the money.  I first met Britton just a few days before his 1st birthday.  I got to meet Clayton when he was just a few weeks old for his newborn session, but this was special because it was the first time I got to see them both in one session, and oh man, what a workout.  Clayton didn’t stop moving for more than 2 seconds.  To top it off we were dealing with a steady 20-25 mile an hour wind.  We tried playing with bubbles but since the wind was so stiff, within seconds after coming off the wand, the bubbles were half way across the park.  All you could do is laugh, and we did.  Their mom was so cool also, she stayed calm about everything, didn’t stress at all and let the boys be boys and because of that, their true personalities SHINE in these portraits.

Here’s your sneak peek, Sara!
