This was a session of a different sort.  A senior yes….in High School…no.  Ms. Casey is actually in the SHSU August 2009 graduating class.  This session was of course, hot, but really what outdoor session these days isn’t.  We walked all over the SHSU campus trying to capture the feel of the campus as backdrop and also all the major landmarks of the campus.  I graduated from SHSU almost 9 years ago (that’s hard to believe) so it’s always fun to get back on campus, check out everything that’s changed (A LOT) and check out the old stomping grounds!  Even living in Huntsville, I don’t get back up there as much as I should.  I’m super behind on blogging, so more to come…

This session was a lot of fun and, at times, a lot like hearding cats.  These two did not hold still for more than a nano second.  A shot of them together was almost a pipe dream until I remembered a little secret trick (which sorry, I won’t reveal.) Then as if someone had turned on a light switch, it happened.  They managed to stay within the same frame and flash me those large, natural grins.  What a reward!

Sweet Sarah was such the trooper this day.  IT WAS HOT…and I mean H-O-T that morning.  Even though we chose to shoot as early as possible it was still in the mid 90’s at 9 in the morning.  Plus, she dealt with several outfit changes and mosquitoes to boot.  It was not the most pleasant of days, but even though she had a few unhappy moments, she really pulled it off!

Little Miss Zoey was one of the winner’s of my “fresh and familiar faces” contest and so we elected to do an “Uptown Tot” Session.  “Uptown Tot” sessions are a little more edgy and little more contemporary than your everyday session.  They take place in alleyways and city streets.  Brick walls, graffiti, and urban architecture are the backgrounds for these sessions.

The first time I met Marin and Sarah was when little Marin was about 3 months old.  She was actually the sleeping baby on my business cards for a long time.  That session is still one of my favorites to this day (3 years later) so needless to say I was thrilled then they prebooked little Maya’s newborn session and ecstatic when Sarah said yes to the Maternity session.  It was great seeing them again, Marin has gotten so big (our last session was when Marin was about 18 months old)  and I am excited to meet little Maya!

I love watching these two grow.  The first time I met them was at their newborn session, and I have seen them several times since then.  We started out doing an outdoor session, but it quickly became unbearably hot and humid - Gotta love Texas in the summer - so we moved into the studio for a few shots.  We attempted several times to get the ever elusive shot of them together, but Thomas doesn’t like his sister to touch him and she was pretty uninterested in being anywhere around him in return.  I managed to catch a few without their knowledge, but the bulk of the session was individual portraits…

You might recognize Sydney, she has appeared on the blog before and is currently on my website from our session last summer.  Well, Sydney came back to see me, this time she brought her new baby sister Avery (and parents too!) Sydney took no time at all to get back into the swing of things.  Last Summer she played shy and was slow to warm up, this time, she knew what to do immediately.  Avery was pensive for most of the session (it didn’t help that I intruded on nap time) but I managed to catch some beautiful images and man, those big blue eyes are piercing! :)

Little Carter is just the smallest little peanut!  He was born 6 weeks early and was still just under 5 pounds when he came to see me at 15 days old.  He was pretty cooperative for the most part.  Once he dozed off, he let me move him and mold him the way I wanted (although he did make me fight for one shot in particular) but I found that since he was so small, I was struggling with him sinking into the blankets, which then required a lot more adjustments that usual, but he slept right through them all!  What a trooper!
